Guide for Food Day Activities in Schools
Click here to find out how to bring Food Day to your school! This guide will provide ideas for fun Food Day activities on incorporating Food Day principles into lessons and other classroom activities and on celebrating with healthy and tasty school meals. Ecoliteracy: Rethinking School Lunch Rethinking School Lunch is a planning framework based on a positive vision: healthy children ready to learn, "food literate" graduates, invigorated local communities, sustainable agriculture, a healthy environment. Books to engage children in all aspects of food. Cornucopia Collection© is a collection of storybooks that include food in the storyline. Each story is accompanied with an activity to provide the "charge" and to give the child a positive and fun experience of positive food choices, and an interest in food. The books can be used: in after school programs, library readings, bookstore readings, included as programming for family events such as church carnivals, PTA events, garden events, museum programs, camps, festivals, integrated into curriculum, childcare centers. |

The "Nourish" Middle School Curriculum Guide offers a rich set of resources to open a meaningful conversation about food and sustainability. Beautifully designed and brimming with big ideas, the materials contain a viewing guide, six learning activities, action projects, student handouts, bibliography, and glossary.
This kit provides a sensory education course, available in 12 languages, to complement the taste education activities being organized by Terra Madre communities, Slow Food convivia, and people who would like to train their senses to recognize quality food. It can be used for groups of all sizes and ages, such as in the classroom or for a family that wishes to try some of the exercises with their children. |

The Environmental Working Group produced this short film with Atlas Films that provides stark images illustrating how federal farm subsidies and ethanol mandates, piled on top of skyrocketing crop prices are supporting an intensive monoculture that kneecaps any hope for a more resilient and diverse food and farm system.
